Strategic Advisor

Rob is an experienced COO/CIO with over 30 years of IT experience and 25 years of experience in the retail banking domain. The highlight of Rob’s career has been a fulfilling stint of 30 years, with ING of which 10 years were in ING Direct. Over the years he has held various positions in the IT function. He started his career journey as a software developer, moving into system analysis, project management, IT architecture and expanding horizontally in management and IT strategy.

Rob joined ING Direct in 2000 and worked internationally as CIO in ING Direct Canada, Japan, Italy and Australia, he was instrumental in executing projects to launch ING Direct in France and Italy. He returned to the Netherlands in September 2010 as Chief Architect for Retail Banking Direct & International at ING and took charge in combined the role of Global CIO for ING Direct in June 2011

Prior to his departure from ING in 2023, Rob was appointed COO/CIO Challengers & Growth Countries (C&G) in June 2013.In October 2016 he was appointed as the Program Director for Model Bank/Maggi in Madrid and was responsible for building a consolidated platform for France, Italy, Spain, Czech and Austria. From 2018 to 2021 he was the CIO for the Netherlands and Belgium, leading the project to consolidate the two banks onto one platform. In 2021 he was appointed Sr. strategic advisor to the CTO of ING.
